Casey - Headshots

I got the opportunity to meet Casey last weekend. He is a high school friend of another photographer friend of mine. She just moved to Colorado so she recommended me.

Casey lives in Long Beach and is getting into acting. He was a lot of fun to work with. Great sense of humor and such a nice guy!

All of the pictures were taken with available light and just a reflector to fill in the shadows. I had such a great time. Jim got to come with me as my assistant. I love being able to work with him.

Thank you Casey for giving me the opportunity to photograph you! I hope you like your pictures and I wish you success in your journey!
Here are a couple of his headshots.

Practicing Lighting

I've been practicing with lighting and the flash lately. Surprisingly my kids have been very cooperative! :) I am beginning to feel more comfortable with the flash. It still takes a lot of trial and error but thankfully not quite as much as it used to!
Here are some collages of the pictures I took of the kids. I'm thinking of even having these printed to put on the wall in their room :)

Sunset

The sunset was so beautiful on Sunday that I had to run out and take some pictures of it. When I got home I played around with editing them a little bit. Some of them I warmed up so they had more orange and yellow tones and some I cooled off so they had more blue and pink tones.

I'm really pleased with the way they turned out. I'm really trying to make sure I pick up my camera more and practice.

I think this is my favorite of all of the pictures.

Sadie

Yesterday a good friend of mine let me practice maternity pictures on her. She was such a good sport! What a cute pregnant girl too!! Her little girl is coming any day now! I'm still working on posing ideas. I did a ton of searching on Pinterest for cute ideas. I'm love the way these turned out and I can't wait to do more maternity shoots this year!!

Doesn't she look great?! Thank you Sadie for letting me practice on you!!!

Flash Bubbles

I've been learning about flash. I've been practicing my skills because I still don't feel like I have any idea what I'm doing lol.
Well I was walking by the sink the other day and noticed a pizza sauce jar filled with water and soap. It had the coolest looking bubbles in it and my first thought was "I definitely have to come back and photograph that later." Then I started to walk away. I stopped myself and decided to do it right then. (I find myself falling into the trap of "I need/want to do something but I'll do it later.") I'm trying to break free from that.

So I grabbed my camera, flash, radio slave and my colored gels. I sat down at the table with my six year old son as my assistant. He is a great light stand. We played with different colored gels and different angles from the flash. I love the way these turned out.
